mūkaṁ karoti vācālaṁ paṅguṁ laṅghayate girim
yat-kṛpā tam ahaṁ vande śrī-guruṁ dīna-tāraṇam
paramānandaṁ mādhavaṁ śrī caitanya iśvaram
Hariḥ oṁ tat sat!
Hare Kṛṣṇa! Dear Devotees! Today we will be continuing with the comentation of the Śrī Caitanya Candrāmṛtam by Srila Prabodhānanda Sarasvatīpad. Continuing with chapter 8. Chapter entitled:
Loka-śikṣā — Instructions to the People
Śrī Caitanya-candramṛtam 92
caitanya-bhakterai madhura svabhāva, jagat-pūjyatva, kāruṇya o sahiṣṇutādi jagadākarṣaka-guṇāvalī sambhava
Only in the devotees of Caitanya is the possibility of these qualities that attract the world, such as sweet nature, worshipable by world, mercy and tolerance
bhajantu caitanya-padāravindaṁ
bhavantu sad-bhakti-rasena pūrṇāḥ
ānandayantu tri-jagad-vicitraṁ
mādhurya-saubhāgya-dayā-kṣamādyaiḥ
Anuvāda: Āpanārā caityacandrera pādapadma āśraya karuna, sarvotkṛṣṭa arthāt anarpitacara unnata-ujjala-rase āpluta hauna evaṁ mādhurya (madhura svabhāva), saubhāgya (sarvotkṛṣṭa premāsvādana), kāruṇya (bahirmukha-jīvake kṛṣṇommukhī-karuna vā nāma-pracāra), kṣamā (tarura nyāya sahiṣṇutā) prabhṛti sadguṇa dvārā tribhuvanake ānanda-vaicitrya dāna karuna.
Translation: All of you take shelter of the lotus feet of Lord Caitanya, be flooded in the most sublime and radiant mellow of devotional service, the mellow of conjugal love and make the three worlds happy in various ways by the Vaiṣṇava qualities such as mādhurya (sweet nature), saubhāgya (super excellent relishing of love), kāruṇya (mercy) i.e. make the materialistic people Kṛṣṇa conscious or preach the holy name kṣamā (being humble than grass) and so on.
Jayapatākā Swami: There are five types of major rasas and seven kinds of subordinate rasas. So, the five are neutral, servitude, friendship, parenthood and conjugal love. So different sampradāyas they revealing different levels of devotional service. But Caitanya Mahāprabhu gave the highest level of conjugal love, and Kṛṣṇa whatever level the devotee approaches Him, He reciprocates on that level. If someone approaches Him as a friend, He reacts as a friend. If someone approaches Him in parental rasa, He reciprocates to the parental rasa as a child. If He is approached in conjugal rasa, then He reciprocates as a lover, as a husband. Actually, Kṛṣṇa is fully satisfied. He doesn’t need anything. But He reciprocates with devotees in the most appropriate way. Especially, Caitanya Mahāprabhu, He was teaching this conjugal love, that’s why His instruction is considered very confidential and He taught how to take shelter of the holy name and always be Kṛṣṇa conscious. Hare Kṛṣṇa
Śrī Caitanya-candrāmṛtam 93
ekamātra gaurapadāśraya vyatīta saṁsārottaraṇa, saṅkīrttana-rasāsvādana o premasampattilābha asambhava
Without the only shelter of the lotus feet of Gaura, crossing the ocean of material existence, relishing the nectar of saṅkīrtana and obtaining the wealth of love is impossible
saṁsāra-sindhu-taraṇe hṛdayaṁ yadi syāt
saṅkīrtanāmṛta-rase ramate manaś cet
premāmbudhau viharaṇe yadi citta-vṛttiś
caitanyacandra-caraṇe śaraṇaṁ prayātu
Anuvāda: Yadi saṁsāra-sāgara uttīrṇa haibāra vāsanā thāke, yadi saṅkīrtanāmṛta-rasa-mādhurīte ramaṇa karite mana haya, yadi prema-samudre vihāra karibāra abhilāṣa haiyā thāke, tāhā haile śrī-caitanyacandra-caraṇe śaraṇāgata hao.
Translation: If there is a desire to cross the ocean of material existence, to relish the nectar of saṅkīrtana and to play in the ocean of loving mellow, then take shelter of the lotus feet of Gaura.
Jayapatākā Swami: If one wants to cross the ocean of material birth and death, and relish the nectar of saṅkīrtana, to play in the ocean of transcendental mellow, then the way to do that is to take shelter of Lord Gaurāṅga’s lotus feet. Lord Gaurāṅga, He comes in this material world just to give us this realization of the super sweetness of Lord Caitanya’s mellow of devotional service.
Śrī Caitanya-candrāmṛtam 94
sarvotkṛṣṭa siddhānta, premabhakti o vairāgya gaura-bhaktagaṇei āvaddha
The super excellent conclusion, loving devotional service and renunciation is confined only within the devotees of Gaura
jñāna-vairāgya-bhakty-ādi
sādhayantu yathā tathā
caitanya-caraṇāmbhoja-
bhakti-labhya-samaṁ kutaḥ
Anuvāda: (loke) jñāna, vairāgya, bhakti prabhṛti ye kona prakārei utpanna karuka nā kena, caitanyacandrera pādapadme-sevā dvārā ye viśeṣa jñāna, vairāgya o bhakti lābha haya, serūpa āra kothāya? Arthāt serūpa āra kutrāpi dekhā yāya nā.
Translation: People may attain knowledge, renunciation and devotional service by whatever means, but where else is the specific knowledge, renunciation and devotional service that is attained by the service to the lotus feet of Caitanyacandra? In other words, a similar type is not be seen anywhere.
Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya’s lotus feet are the source of very special renunciation in devotional service. So, we want to take shelter of Lord Gaurāṅga’s lotus feet, and there is no higher perfection, and making it very easy if we take shelter of His lotus feet. Lord Caitanya is giving out this amazing love of Kṛṣṇa to everyone He meets, even those who don’t want it they also get it and Lord Caitanya is very committed to giving out pure devotion, that’s His mood, why do you want to try some hard way to get it while Lord Caitanya is giving out very freely? If a thing is lying by the roadside, why do you want to spend money and try to get it from the shop? You see, you can only get it from Lord Caitanya, you can never get it from anyone else If He is offering it, you should take it, if He is not offering it, no one else is offering it. Lord Caitanya has descended just to give out this special mercy. To get the mercy of Lord Caitanya, we should read the books and do devotional service to His lotus feet, in this way always stay Kṛṣṇa conscious.
