20220731 Bhādra Pūrṇimā Campaign Address

mūkaṁ karoti vācālaṁ paṅguṁ laṅghayate girim
yat-kṛpā tam ahaṁ vande śrī-guruṁ dīna-tāraṇam
hariḥ oṁ tat sat

Jayapatākā Swami: I offer my obeisances to Śrīla Prabhupāda. So this year like every year we would like to observe the special Bhādra Pūrṇimā opportunity and I was just reading in Māyāpur, how Parīkṣit Mahārāja, the grandson of Arjuna he sacrificed his life so that you can have the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. So, Arjuna, he was put in illusion so the Bhagavad-gītā was manifested. And his grandson Parīkṣit Mahārāja, he heard the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam for seven days and seven nights. We don’t know when we are going to leave. Today I heard that one of my dear disciples, Anādi Jagannātha das in Bengaluru, he left his body last night. And we don’t know when we are going to leave. But Parīkṣit Mahārāja knew he had seven days and he heard the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam in seven days and seven nights. And so if people can take the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam and put it in their house, that is a wonderful thing.

Actually, Gītā and Bhāgavatam are the literally incarnations of the Lord. Bhāgavatam is spoken about Kṛṣṇa. So if we can distribute sets of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam then people can easily achieve perfection in their lives. By giving aural reception to this Vedic literature, Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, which is considered to be the ripened fruit of the Vedic tree, then we all get the divine perfection of human life. Lord Caitanya said,

bhārata-bhūmite haila manuṣya-janma yāra
janma sārthaka kari' kara para-upakāra
(Cc. Ādi 9.41)

 So if we consider Bharata Bhumi to be India, then we should distribute all the books in great number in India. Of course, in one sense the earth planet was called by other planets as Bhārata-varṣa. So we want all the people in the earth planet to be purified by having the Bhāgavatam sets and they should also read it. I saw one drama in Chennai, I told this many times. Children were playing the role of Yamadūtas and one was Yamarāja. So one thing they said, this ISKCON they have sets of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam in their house, we cannot go near their house. So we have to seek another job, we are put out of business! So I tell people please give the Yamadūtas a vacation. So in one sense we should distribute more and more Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam sets and give a vacation to the Yamadūtas. That is one way of saying. Of course, if a person has a Bhāgavatam set and reads it, his or her dormant love of Kṛṣṇa is awakened. Immediately that person is freed from material lamentation, illusion and fearfulness. In their heart then devotional service for Lord Kṛṣṇa sprouts up.

So Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam is a miracle book. What is the goal for this year? 43,000. Nice goal. What did you do last year? 35,000. We are going to do it! Last year the video was You can Do It or something. This year is Save Earth Now. Very good! The Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam can definitely save the earth.

We should dedicate ourselves to distributing and reading the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. I am encouraging my disciples and all the devotees to get their Bhakti-vaibhava, Bhakti-vedānta degrees. By reading Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, by reading every canto of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, we are getting association with Kṛṣṇa.

I was having a question-and-answer session with the Middle East and from San Diego California. They were very confused how can we directly talk with the Supreme Personality of Godhead? The concept that God is impersonal, that you cannot talk to Him. And Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam says in so many occasions where the devotees talk to the Supreme Lord. So, in this way, the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam is a kind of a revolution. We are not saying people should convert or anything but they should know the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam was written 5,000 years ago before any another religion was existing in the world. If people can under the science of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam they can really understand everything. But your point is very that presently due to climate changes, due to war, Russia – Ukraine war and all kinds of wars are going on, in one news broadcast they said, world at war. Our present world is very disturbing. What is the solution? Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam if people would take that to heart, it has so much transcendental bliss and it will solve all the problems. If they can chant Hare Kṛṣṇa and dance in ecstasy, take some kṛṣṇa-prasāda and read Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, then that is our process of bhakti-yoga. So, I am anxious to see your videos.

Who wants the Yamadūtas to come to your home? Nobody wants it. So everyone buy Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam! In 1968 I bought the original set of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam that Śrīla Prabhupāda brought from India and here I am! Śrīla Prabhupāda kī jaya! Haribol! They are having wildfires in Europe so the way to put them out is to bring in the fire of the rain of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam!
