prabhura nṛtya dekhi’ sukhe calilā manthara
Translation: Apart from the others, even Lord Jagannātha and Lord Balarāma, with great happiness, began to move very slowly upon seeing the dancing of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu.

Jayapatākā Swami: Some people may thing that Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma were just wood, they are considered as pāṣaṇḍīs or unbelievers. Actually, Lord Jagannātha, Balarāma are actual worshipable incarnations of the Lord. That’s why They would stop Their car and go to see the dancing of Lord Caitanya.
Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 13.180

chi, chi, viṣayīra sparśa ha-ila āmāra
Translation: After seeing the King, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu condemned Himself, saying, “Oh, how pitiful it is that I have touched a person who is interested in mundane affairs!”
Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya as the teacher of the whole wolrd, was indicating this in order to reach everyone, what the standard of sannyāsī was!
Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 13.183
āveśete nityānanda nā hailā asāvadhāne
kāśīśvara-govinda ādi chilā anya-sthāne
Translation: Not even Lord Nityānanda Prabhu, Kāśīśvara or Govinda took care of Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu when He fell down. Nityānanda was in great ecstasy, and Kāśīśvara and Govinda were elsewhere.
Jayapatākā Swami: So, these are the normal devotees who would care for Lord Caitanya but with this reason they are not present to take the Lord but King Pratāparudra
Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 13.184
rājāra dainyamayī kṛṣṇasevā-darśane antare santoṣa, bhakti-sādhaka-hitārthe bāhire roṣābhāsa:—
yadyapi rājāra dekhi’ hāḍira sevana
prasanna hañāche tāṅre milibāre mana
Translation: Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu had already been satisfied by the King’s behavior, for the King had accepted the service of a sweeper for Lord Jagannātha. Therefore Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu actually desired to see the King.
Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 13.185
tathāpi āpana-gaṇe karite sāvadhāna
bāhye kichu roṣābhāsa kailā bhagavān
Translation: However, just to warn His personal associates, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, externally expressed feelings of anger.
Purport: When Mahārāja Pratāparudra asked to see the Lord, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu immediately refused, saying:
(Caitanya-candrodaya-nāṭaka 8.23)
The word niṣkiñcanasya refers to a person who has finished his material activities. Such a person can begin to execute his activities in Kṛṣṇa consciousness to cross over the ocean of nescience. It is very dangerous for such a person to have intimate relationships with mundane people or to become intimately related with women. This formality is to be observed by anyone who is serious about going back home, back to Godhead. To teach His personal associates these principles, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu expressed external anger when touched by the King. Since the Lord was very much satisfied with the humble behavior of the King, He intentionally allowed the King to touch Him, but externally He expressed anger just to warn His personal associates.
Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya as the Supreme controller, He allowed King Pratāparudra to touch Him and help Him, but externally He showed some anger to warn His devotees but internally He was satisfied because of the humble behavior of the King.
Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 13.186
prabhu-vākye rājāra bhaya, sārvabhaumera āśvāsa:—
prabhura vacane rājāra mane haila bhaya
sārvabhauma kahe,—tumi nā kara saṁśaya
Translation: King Pratāparudra became frightened when Lord Caitanya showed external anger, but Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya told the King, “Don’t worry.”
Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 13.187
tomāra upare prabhura suprasanna mana
tomā lakṣya kari’ śikhāyena nija gaṇa
Translation: Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya informed the King, “The Lord is very satisfied with you. By pointing you out, He was teaching His personal associates how to behave with mundane people.”
Purport: Although outwardly the King was a mundane man interested in money and women, internally he was purified by devotional activities. He showed this by engaging as a street sweeper to please Lord Jagannātha. A person may appear to be a pounds-and-shillings man interested in money and women, but if he is actually very meek and humble and surrendered to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, he is not mundane. Such a judgment can be made only by Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu and His very confidential devotees. As a general principle, however, no devotee should intimately mix with mundane people interested in money and women.
Jayapatākā Swami: So, this is the principle that was being taught by Lord Caitanya to His associates. Since, He had allowed the King to help Him, this was actually because He was satisfied with the King.
Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 13.188
avasara jāni’ āmi kariba nivedana
sei-kāle yāi’ kariha prabhura milana
Translation: Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya continued, “I shall submit your petition when there is an opportune moment. It will then be easy for you to come and meet the Lord.”
Jayapatākā Swami: Since Lord Caitanya was actually pleased by King Pratāparudra’s sweeping the floor in the road before Lord Jagannātha. For His serving all devotees, for his releasing Rāmānanda Rāya and for many other reasons. But He didn’t want to give example that would somehow authorize His associates to intimately mix with materialistic people.
Thus ends the chapter entitled, Expressing Anger Externally, Lord Caitanya is Very Satisfied with King Pratāparudra.
