20200427 Zoom Session with Gujarat Devotees

The following is an address given by His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami Mahārāja on April 27th,2020 in Śrī Dhāma Māyāpur, India. The address was given to the Gujarat Devotees via zoom.

mūkaṁ karoti vācālaṁ paṅguṁ laṅghayate girim
yat-kṛpā tam ahaṁ vande śrī-guruṁ dīna-tāraṇam
paramānandaṁ mādhavaṁ śrī caitanya iśvaram

Hariḥ oṁ tat sat!

Kem cho? (How are you in Gujarati). I am very happy to address the Gujarati devotees. I was supposed to go to Surat in the month of April. But instead there was a lockdown. So I couldn’t go to Gujarat. So this month I wanted to visit Gujarat by Zoom. And I am very happy to be with you all! First I will tell a little bit about the material disease and then about the spiritual disease.

Now we are being attacked by the COVID-19 because as human beings we have broken the laws of nature. We have killed and eaten animals. Although Gujarat is the state where there are more vegetarians, still 40% or so are non-veg. So somehow even though we may be vegetarians, the disease affects us. Right now, the scientists, doctors, don’t have a specific cure. They don’t have any treatment! And they don’t have a vaccine. So they are trying very hard, they are saying maybe by September or next year they may have. So that is why they are saying, stay at home. And observe social distancing, so we don’t get infected. But if someone coughs the virus may stay in the air for a minute. And that is why they are saying to wear a mask. On a hard surface, the virus may stay alive for three or more days. So if you touch a place with the virus, that goes on your hand! That is why they say, wash your hands frequently with soap. And particularly, before you touch your face. Because that way, you may catch the virus.

Now I think that all of you are chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa! But if you can get more people to chant, that will help solve both material and spiritual disease! In the Kali Santaraṇa Upaniṣad it says, that the best method to destroy all the bad influence of Kali yuga – kali-kalmaṣa-nāśanaṁ, - that it destroys all the kalmaṣa of Kali yuga. Hare Kṛṣṇa Hare Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Hare Hare, Hare Rāma Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma Hare Hare! In different Purāṇas it states that by chanting the name of Hari, we can get rid of all the sufferings. If we chant the name of Nṛsiṁhadeva by saying, Śrī Nṛsiṁha Jaya Nṛsiṁha Jaya Jaya Nṛsiṁhadeva. If we chant this 21 times, then we can also be saved. So please encourage people to chant the holy names. And if they are not Hindus, if they don’t want to chant Hare Kṛṣṇa, then they can at least chant whichever name they have in their scriptures.

So, our mood is that we want to serve the Lord.

And in this world, people want to enjoy.

And they don’t know serving the Lord that is giving them spiritual happiness.

So this world from time to time, gives us different kinds of suffering.

Kṛṣṇa says in Bhagavad-Gītā that this world is a duḥkhālayam.

And It is temporary.

So the suffering is temporary and the enjoyment is temporary.

So, we want them to understand the higher spiritual happiness.

And that is a thing that this lockdown gives us an opportunity to reach out using internet, to preach.

One of our devotees told me that they are giving a Bhagavad-Gītā class for beginners.

He thought may be 40 or 60 people will join, but he was surprised, 500 joined!!

People are very interested to find out what the spiritual solution is.

Even the Supreme Court advised that to stop the fear in people, the anxiety in people, promote bhajana, kīrtana and namaz.

So, this is a special opportunity for us to study Śrīla Prabhupāda’s books, chant our japa very carefully.

So how many husbands and wives are cooperating together, serving their deities in their house.

How they can also preach using the internet and so make the best use of this bad bargain!

If anyone gets positive with the COVID-19 virus, Dr. Vinoy Gauracandra Dāsa, he is doing some studies.

Because Dr. Audārya Dhāma Dāsa of Russia says he has cured 60 COVID patients and has one process.

We just heard from China, that they have a process which also cures COVID.

So I just told that to the doctor Vinoy Gauracandra Dāsa.

That he should do a study.

These are natural things, but there is no allopathic thing that works.

So if anyone is interested I will give them the contact of Dr. Vinoy Gauracandra.

Stay healthy, stay Kṛṣṇa conscious and spread Kṛṣṇa consciousness to everyone.

And I hope that since Gujarat is a sacred place, Kṛṣṇa had His dhāma there, Dvārakā, so the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he should also request the people to pray, using the holy names of God.

As the Supreme Court said, by bhajana, kīrtana, namaz.

So this is my brief class.

Every night I give a class at 6 o clock.

And in the morning and evening I have special Zoom meetings.

So this was my special meeting with Gujarat.
