20101021 His. Holiness. Jayapatākā Swami gave a talk about Damodar Līlā in Mumbai.

Gurumahārāja:

mūkaṁ karoti vācālaṁ

paṅguṁ laṅghayate girim

yat-kṛpā tam ahaṁ vande

paramānanda-mādhavam

Śrī Caitanya Iswaram

So, today is the eve of the Dāmodara Pūjā. Tomorrow here in the Rāshbihāri Temple, in Juhu they are going to start the offering of lamps. Tomorrow Nitāi-Gaurā to Radha-Rāshbihari, Lalita-Vishākha and to Sitā-Rām-Laxman-Hanumān, and all the other diorama.

This is a very momentous occasion. Actually last time we inaugurated the Dāmodara Pūjā in Chowpatty, Bombay, and about two weeks ago also we inaugurated the Dāmodara Program at Kuālā Lāmpur. There they had Kṛṣṇa drama’s, and they had very dramatic, I can say entry into the Dāmodara Program. They did over a hundred and seventeen thousand in Malaysia. So, this year we should do a national launch, because all over the country now they are going to try. So, in Chaupati they told me, they are also trying. They have a special picture of Lord Dāmodara that they are giving out freely. So, like this, I don’t ask what they are doing here in Juhu, but it’s like all over India of course. Here a lot of people are... attend the temples, and offer lamps. That should also come, and as far as outreach, I don’t know what they are doing here, but you all listeners will start, will try to reach out, give the blessings to the people.

This Dāmodara month is a special month. Krishna is very pleased with anyone who offers the pūjā to Him. So, starting tomorrow for one month of Pūrṇimā to Pūrṇimā, we are experiencing the ecstasy of offering the lamp to Dāmora. So, Lord Dāmodara, He is so merciful that He agreed to be tied up by his mother.

Dāmodara means... Udara is the stomach. So, he was getting tied by the stomach.  So, like that we want that our love for Kṛṣṇa may be awakened. It’s already dormant in our heart, and if awaken it, then we can also tie Kṛṣṇa in our heart. So, this is a very great opportunity, that we can get the mercy of Kṛṣṇa in this month. So, I specially give people a chance to take Kṛṣṇa and to worship Him, and to offer Him sevā. Normally people don’t do. They don’t know how much they are missing, but in this month we have every chance to tell the people.

Take the blessings. Everybody likes blessings, so take blessings, offer lamp to Kṛṣṇa in His very merciful Dāmodara form. So, we are very excited. Tomorrow night, here in the Rādhā-Rāshbihari temple, we are launching the Dāmodara Program, and all very near I think the same day, we are launching. So, this is a very much waited for chance. We can sing Namāmishwaram Sachidānanda Rūpam, we can sing that special song. That is very pleasing to Krishna.

Haribol. Thank you very much, and see you soon.

One London devotee, Bhakti Priya Rādhikā is leaving for Kenya today. Let’s give her a garland.

I want to tell you, you should get some Prasad, and give it out to your friends, brother, relatives.

Mātājī: I got hold of it.

Gurumahārāja: You got halwā box?

Mātājī: I got four pieces of cake

Gurumahārāja: Customs may get. You should also bring some dry Prasad.

Here give her. ... [Haribol]

That is Rādhārāṇī’s Prasad

Anyone has a question?

Shyāma Rasika Prabhu (reading a letter): Dear Gurumahārāja, please accept my humble obeisance’s at your lotus feet. All glories to Śrīla Prabhupāda.

Because of the existing modern lifestyle, I am not able to relate to the pastime of Kṛṣṇa and Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. How do I develop understanding of these transcendental līlās?

Gurumahārāja: So, of course this was like five thousand years ago, and it showed how Kṛṣṇa was the perfect son, the perfect master, perfect friend, perfect lover. So, in every respect He was perfect. Now, it doesn’t matter. I don’t think people have trouble watching movies of various periods. So, like that Kṛṣṇa in His setting of five thousand years ago, and Ram was some nine million years ago. Lord Caitanya, 500 years ago. So, I don’t know exactly what’s the difficulty to understand.

It is not so important that you understand in the context of the computers and cars, but we simply understand the relationships between Kṛṣṇa and His friends, Lord Caitanya and the relationships. Yes, those relationships are something that doesn’t change. So, we can see how the exchange of loving relationships were, and this way we are going to find that whatever setting is there... Like everybody is looking for a friend in this world. A man looking... a man or man looking for a woman, or a woman looking for a woman, a woman looking for a man, but everybody wants a friend.

So, Prabhupāda was presenting to us that Kṛṣṇa is a perfect friend. So, what’s the difficulty of understanding it?
