20100326 Śrī Vyāsa-pūjā Message

The following is a Vyāsa-pūjā message given by His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami Mahārāja in 2010 in Los Angeles, California. 

Hare Kṛṣṇa! Obeisances to His Divine Grace Śrīla Prabhupāda. Haribol! The Vyāsa-pūjā celebration is normally held in Māyāpur. But this time I am holding it here, in Los Angeles. Because I am taking a treatment to regain my motion – my independent movement. So I like to wish all the devotees around the world my blessings on this Vyāsa-pūjā day. We know that the Vyāsa-pūjā is the celebration of the appearance of the guru as a representative of Vyāsadeva and all the previous ācāryas. So, through the guru we worship all the previous ācāryas, simultaneously we offer the bhoga to the Deities and to the guru. So in this way, we celebrate the Vyāsa-pūjā.

I am very concerned that the disciples carry on the mission of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda, which is my mission and that they can take up this preaching spirit with great enthusiasm. I am very grateful for the devotees who helped in serving me on doing this over one year and for me it is a great austerity, you know, since to not being in Māyāpur as that is my guru-datta-deśa. Well, I understand that this is the desire of the GBC and devotees that I become… take the therapy. So please chant Hare Kṛṣṇa and follow the regulative principles and worship Caitanya Mahāprabhu.

We heard from Śrīla Prabhupāda, how the devotees, how the people, how the western world, eastern world, over the world that people are into good karma and bad karma. But no one, very few are into devotional service. So what we want to do is invoke the mercy of Lord Caitanya upon all of them, so that they can get pure bhakti awaken in their heart. Everyone has a pure bhakti, but this is like dormant. So through the devotees we want people to take this opportunity to make full use of this human form of life and to chant: Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare. In this way we can do the greatest benefit for the fallen souls in this Kali-yuga. Also we know that one good fragrant flower in the forest can give the good name to the whole forest. So like that, in the paramparā one good disciple will glorify the whole paramparā. So His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda, because he took this message around the world. He has created a very good name for the disciplic succession of following Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu. So we must all be very careful to do the same thing to be a good example of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda. I don’t feel myself so qualified but I am trying, I am trying my best and I want my disciples, well-wishers, like godbrothers, godsisters everyone… also try to do what they can to carry on Prabhupāda’s mission. This is my primary message. I would like to… use to speak better, but I am not fully recovered yet. So I will be very happy that the disciples and devotees all over the world observing the Vyāsa-pūjā with enthusiasm and I hope that I will soon be able to recover enough so that I can travel and visit all the disciples and all the devotees in various parts of the world. But primarily I want to spend most of my time in India, in Asia, which is my guru-datta-deśa, but sometimes also visit the Latin America and also visit other parts of Europe and America and Australia, and Africa.

I would like to also remind the devotees that this time we want to keep ISKCON integrity very strong. We want to keep ISKCON united, there are enemies who are always trying to divide ISKCON by trying to take off the devotees. But we know that Prabhupāda wanted us to stay together, to stay united. So let us all try to remain very much together serving His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda. And I sure that the other senior devotees will be very happy to extend all their support to you. Here they are very encouraging for me. This is very moving to me that to see how all the godbrothers are very much supportive to me at this time, when I am trying to recover from a very serious attack.

So I need all your cooperation to very follow the Kṛṣṇa conscious system in a regulation and in this way make the best use of the human life. We want to go wherever Śrīla Prabhupāda is and to help him in the saṅkīrtana movement; but while we are here, let us try to do something for His Divine Grace, let us work together, in this way we can make the best use of we came to this material world by doing something. At least, we can save one person, and he can go back to Kṛṣṇa and our whole mission according to Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura will be a success.
