Interesting pastime Kardama Muni he was meditating, doing tapasyas, on the Supreme Personality of Godhead. In order to purify himself. To prepare himself for what?anyone knows ?

Something preliminary to that, although we consider as faith. worst than that.

Laughter from Gurumaharaj and audience :Yes ! he was going to enter into the Grihasta ashram so he wanted to prepare himself . So he did meditation and tapasya for 10, 000 years . So that he would be a success. He went through that ashram so that, he would get a qualified wife. So, we want to take our husband and wife in the catalogue right.

But, he was very concerned actually to get back to Krsna and he had already understood that he was going through, not be able to directly go into sanyas.

That he needed to pass through the life experience, programme known as Grihasta ashram and then after that he would be ready to renounce, But if he directly tried to renounce he might be, bothering that I am missing out on something . I don’t have to know what its all about? So he wanted to experience it . Then renounce it and focus completely on the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

So, in order to get through all these different tests, he was doing this tapasya. In fact, the whole chapter name is called conversation between Manu and Kardama because, later on in verse 15 he says :therefore desiring to marry a girl like this position . Who may prove to be a virgable my cover plenty . Who would satisfy my lustful desire I took shelter of your lotus feet. Which is the source of everything as you are like the desire tree.

He is one of the prajapatis and he wanted to fulfil his material desire get purified from that and maintain his Krsna consciousness and get back to Godhead at the end. It is not easy thing to achieve . Therefore he took complete shelter of the Supreme Godhead he was meditating and worshiping and the lord was very pleased with his desire.

Pleased with his worship and appeared to him saying . Even if someobody has some material desire it doesn’t mean that, he avoids doesn’t appear before him. Infact, not only did the Lord agree to appear before him but agreed to appear as his son. Which is a conceivable blessing .

Considering the amount of preparation Kardama Muni, went through in order to be successful. You see how important it is inorder to have preparation for different services we tend to take everything very lightly. In the maya modes. Glories to the Gurukul students. 5. 14

We tend to take things very lightly, and we suffer for that. ACTUALLY, Bhaktivinod Thakur he was once asked, what was the most important thing for a householder?to achieve success in Krsna consciousness. Its most important thing to execute their household, duties and in that . His reply was that make Krsna consciousnessly as one is accepting a team effort. When you are a sanyasi, brahmachari, it depends and ofcourse we need association different kind of Guru and peer support. But, making or breaking is depended on ones own practise and how one can take ones own blessings inside . Association when you are sync in 6. 28. Suddenly the equation changes, when you are married because we have to work as a team player with another person in a very intimate way and that can very smooth sailing or very complicated depending on how the other person is Krsna conscious . He was very concerned about this . Getting somebody who had a similar mind as he did.

He would be able to fulfil his material desire and at the same time be able to cooperate with him to become Krsna conscious, very interesting situation. Kardama Muni. Well, right now the fruit of his meditation has been realised, because the Lord appeared before him.

Lord had also appeared before Prahlad, Dhruva anybody else the Lord had appeared?Narada Muni anyone else?Any new children can you say?Gajendra the elephant . Anyone else?before we run out of people. Who did the Lord appear to?Anybody else you can think of?Bali Maharaj!Prahlad you said.

 Anybody who saw Krsna in the womb of his mother?Parikshit Maharaj, Anyone else saw the Lord?Chitraketu, Lord Brahma so many actually, so many. Here, not only Kardama saw the Lord his wife saw the Lord. How did his wife see the Lord?. . seeing you are awake Gurumaharaj laughs.

She got to not only see the Lord, but to do all kinds of services for the Lord and later accepted the Lord as her spiritual master. Which was 8. 48 ritual but she knew that the Lord was her son . So, therefore she could do that. In Vrindavan, in the vatsalya ras the parents never think of the Lord as sacred God. But, in this particular circumstance she, knew . So, she went from Vatsalya type of motherly affection to another. That was when the Lord was older, then she took shelter and asked for instructions.

This verse, specifically talks about perfecting our senses, by hearing the Lord, seeing the Lord and tasting the Lord and smelling the Lord . We know the senses, any one sense can drain us away into illusion.

Infact, in the animal kingdom usually the animals, have one sense which is very strong. Like the fish have one sense which is very strong, whats the strong sense of the fish?the tongue, eating Like the fisherman dangles him in nice delicious worm, yum yummy for fish right?and one of us proper looking at it.

We should just see no radar, no computers, but they are all flying along the light . But, nobody collides into each other. No crashes . Only when they collide, into is the light. That the light just smashes. But above, all the self they go around with no collision. So, then we have a detailed sense of smell. WHICH ANIMAL IS VERY attached to the sense of smell?Dogs but ok ! But a little, this particular analogy we have another animal that gets killed by the sense of smell.

The bee ! correct!. The Bee goes smelling for honey, goes inside sometimes, a very beautiful lotus flower . Like a day lily a day lotus. Most lotuses are day flowers, so when the sun goes down the lotus closes . But, the Bee is so busy smelling the honey Hmmmn!that it forget that actually the flower is closing . Suffocated in the flower. Opens up again the morning, Bee Dead because too much absorbed in smelling. The Bee can smell the honey, pollen from a long distance .

Then there is sense of touch which animal gets trapped by the sense of touch?the elephant . Yes, elephant such a big animal very hard to catch, But very attached to touching the female elephant. So they catch a female first, tie up the female and then in front they dig a big pit covered with bamboos, and grass looks like a solid drown. Then when the male elephant sees the female wants to go and touch her . Goes running towards the female, he falls in the ditch. Then he cant get out of the ditch he is captured .

Hearing the deer, previously the hunters would play the flute and the deers would come to hear the music, when they got close enough, they would throw the flute and pick up the bow and puuff . The deer would be shot dead. Each animal has a strong sense . But, human beings have all the sense very strong . That is the difficulty. We can be, drived away by any sense. Tasting, hearing, smelling . Some people they fall in Maya for, the racing things . Although I don’t have a distinct example of anybody falling into maya over the sense of smell. But, I am sure its happened . But, the other things, people sniff cooking because of smell.

All the senses can take us, from Krsna consciousness if we are not careful . Therefore, the whole point here is to use all our, senses in Krsnas service . Use our hearing to hear about Krsna, use our sense of smell to smell Krsnas flowers, garlands . Always be wearing that prasadam garland of Krsna .

One of the things recommended in Nectar of devotion is to, wear the prasadam garland and prasadam clothing all time, as remnants of Krsna . So, Uddhava was so much in Love with Krsna, that he always wanted to wear the remnants of Krsna, wanted to use the thing, that Krsna used, wanted to touch the things that Krsna touched .

Smelled the things that Krsna smelled and taste the fruits that Krsna tasted . Therefore, Uddhava was so much absorbed in Krsna thought. He was completely, absorbed thinking about Krsna. So, that is how we can get ourself very much purified . By always absorbing our senses in Krsnas service.

When one is freed from all designations of life and fully engaged in service of Lord. Ones service, is called Bhakti yoga

Sarva pade veni muktam tad padi nirmalam hrishe kena hrishi kasha
evanam bhakti uchatam

Exactly what Prabhupad said, when we are free from all designations, and we are simply engaging all our senses in Krsnas service. we are in perfection of Bhaki Yoga. One can chant the Hare Krsna maha mantra and engage in the sense of tongue and sense of hearing. Even if one does it, accidentaly one can get delivered.

Any example of someone who accidentally chanted the holy name and got delivered?Ajamil. In the Padma Purana there is a history of another, person who got delivered by chanting, not consciously, just chanting . There was a household couple, who were not Krsna conscious. They were Vaishyas and husband was handsome, rich, influential. good businessman. Wife was beautiful, slender waist. everyhting same like, formula for material happiness. Everything was there money, good looks whats the problem right?But, always do reality check. In the material world always some problems which comes up. You never know, exactly what they are .

In this particular situation, the husband contracted some disease . It was dormant from childhood suddenly became, very prominent . Got affected very seriously by asthma. Asthma is very difficult diseases, because we cant breathe, really cant do much and it deplets ones ability to breathe. So, he was having tremendous difficulty to breathe and somehow he was having and got a severe asthma attack at a young age 35 or something.

He suddenly died. So, there is a young wife 25 or something, 26 she suddenly became a widow and living in the house of her in laws.

As is the Indian custom, but she was young, she had so many desires In that particular culture she was not allowed to marry again. She was not allowed. Even one might of a certain circumstances even as a widow. What happened is that she somehow became a very loose women and get to have boy firends and things like that and father became very angry. That you are disgracing our family.

List if you want to get married. But don’t have boyfriends and mix around.

So, because of the audience today we have to make it a bit PG or you have to add it to the viewers. The details of this particular pastime, father gave an ultimatum to have to leave the house or you have to be very strictly. She was not a strict lady so she left the house, and she became a liberated women . I guess ! by modern standards. But, by those standards she became basically like a prostitute, where she could just associate with any men who could visit her.

And she didn’t have any scruples. The only thing she had for herself is that. One day a parrot salesmen came around, and sold her a parrot. Who knew or was taught how to speak. I don’t remember whether she taught the parrot how to speak or the parrot already knew how to speak two words. That was “Rama, Rama”. So, she would go to the parrot everyday, all he had a two word vocabulary. Rama, Rama and the parrot would say “Rama, Rama”. So, whole day that was taught it was kind of accepted. That the parrot like her son. So, everytime he would be walking by, throughout the day maybe dozens of times maybe “Rama, Rama”. Rama, Rama”. So, everytime, she will see the parrot and when parrot would say, “Rama, Rama”. Ok! now you be the parrot and I will be lady.

Rama, Rama” Rama, Rama”. So like the parrot Rama, Rama” Rama, Rama”. So throughout the day she is chanting the holy names with the parrot. But, she is also going out doing her, sinful activities.

Finally, there was a tense storm thunder, and then there was lightning, hit the house . She was killed, along with the parrot by lightnening. The yamaduttas had her on their watch list. Infact, they were waiting for this time. Because she had commited so many sinful activities so they were came in a big group. Usually they are 2, 3 or 4 but this time they came under the war. Infact, they had a special one one of the leading Yamduttas known as the crusher. I forget the Sanskrit name, but the meaning when you translate means the crusher.

So they came up and then tied her subtle body and even they tied up parrot subtle body which I could never understood what he did wrong. Anyway, by association they were really, they were dragging them off. Just waiting to drag them off when the visnuduttas they appeared. She was chanting “Rama, Rama “so many times she actually became, purified. And, so the Vishnuduttas are coming and they saw the Yamaduttas doing there number and they were comenting amongst themselves.

What is wrong with these people? Why? they are some people they don’t see any good in anybody just see the bad. Why couldn’t they see the good in this lady. The others said, well those who are absorbed in themselves in finding the bad, sinful mentality they find faults in others. So, they came down and the Yamduttas they see Vishnuduttas, they say “Oh No!”. But they are really attached and said “you are not taking this one, from us no way!”. “She belongs to us!. She is a great sinner.”

Vishnuduttas say “But, she chanted the name of “Rama”. When she left the body she is chanting “Rama”. She is freed from her sins.

Common she is singing to her parrot, she is not chanting consciously the name of God. Whatever it may be she chanted the name “Rama”. She is pure .

They said “No way! We are taking her !”. She is going to Hell and we are going to punish, we punish. She is going to suffer . Burn her, tear her, .

Vishnuduttas stood firm they chopped the ropes of yamaduttas . We are send by the Lord, she is coming with us. Yamaduttas were angry. Apparently they didn’t realise who the vishnuduttas were, from another yuga from another creation they didn’t learn . I guess they don’t have it in the training school the Yamaduttas . I don’t know what their programme is for training, But they . I guess so few people actually go back to godhead that they, see any Vishnuduttas.

So, there they were they became so angry that they took their burning coals from hell and threw it at the Vishnuduttas. Vishnuduttas took out their 4 arms and took out their club and held out, and it created a special type of a field that, all the coals got reflected and flew on.

Then some of the Yamaduttas became more fired up they said, they pulled out their swords and came in, to have a hand to hand combat with the Vishnuduttas. Vishnuduttas had no choice Chakra!released the chakras started cutting the hands of the Yamaduttas. Some of them came so ferociously that even they had to cut off their head . They tried to avoid this type you know arms, legs . But the crusher he couldn’t take it he came, he took his gigantic club, at the lead Vishnudutta whose name was Sankalpa or something. Was determined, he came forward, and the crusher took his club and he smashed the lead Vishnudutta. With all his …. 27. 37on the chest. The Vishnuduta slightly moved. The Vishnudutta took his club, and he took it and smashed the crusher. The crusher he was sompletly, hit by the club of the Vishnuduta. Blood started coming out from the pores of his skin, from his ears, his face . He shook him, collapsed on the ground and Yamaduttas picked him up and dragged him back, to Yamaraj to, wounded and dead. Vishnuduttas took the lady the prostitute, the fallen lady who is now purified. Took her and her pet parrot, Atma the soul back to Godhead.

So, when the Yamaduttas they were really upset, they went back to Yamaraj, we thought you were the most powerful and how can there be 2 authorities?what is this?who are these people ? and why did and how can they stop us?. Thus questioned Yamaraj explains, the servant of supreme Lord . You should know who you should wait . You don’t bring those people to me who always, chanting the name RAMA, KRSNA, MADHUSUDAN, GOVINDA, HARI. Dont bring them to me . Bring the others who don’t chant these names.

So if you don’t chant your rounds, then the Yamaduttas can take you away. But, if you are always chanting your not eligible. You will be rejected. Yamaduttas rejected always chanting. How many will like to be reject material from the Yamaduttas nomenclature.

So bring to me, don’t bring to me those people, who have dedicated their life uplift others, and bring them back to God. Don’t bring those people to me who are constantly serving the Lord in devotion. Dont bring those people to me, who are truthful and honest and who are trying to work for the welfare of others and giving, charity. Dont bring those people to me. Bring the people to me others who are simply, engaged in their material activities.

So, in this way, that fallen lady completely became purified . Someone can say how is it she can go right back to godhead?Somehow, it was everyday she was chanting actually develops spontaneous attraction for the holy name. Intially she was just talking to her parrot “RAMA, RAMA” “Rama, Rama”. Actually she began to like chanting. She didn’t know that chanting “Rama” was, holy name even . It was just a, she was not thinking about it in that way. It was just like, sometimes people have names that are Krsna conscious, think about it just a name. Just the way she would chant with the parrot, wasn’t any, offense . She wasn’t chanting on strength, she was sitting on the strength of chanting . Her chanting was, totally without any insincerity or offensive mentality. It was just, she liked to chant she was chanting and so gradually she was developing this attachement to chanting. Holy name of Krsna, every time she was chanting she was getting, purified . In this way she could go back to Godhead. So, she was absorbing the sense of hearing. So, when we preach to people its good not to, tell them all the glories of the holy name and tell them about offense . Might be we tell them, ten offenses when we give them first intiation. Offcourse we tell them before, when they are in the temple. Sometimes, you tell people about the ten offenses and after that, you may tell them they are sitting on strength of chanting, glories of what you chant. You get rid of all your sin when you chant. Someone might sin more and chant more. I will not commit the 7^th offense to the holy name.

So that’s why we don’t tell people all the glories of the holy name . We tell them chant and make yourself happy. Chant, and be happy. Something else superficial. Dont give into all the details. Because uless they know the whole picture, they may misuse the holy name and counteract whatever good effect they have . But, in this case the lady didn’t know anything, she was totally zero in her understanding. But, she developed, love for attraction for this chanting.

So, she was able to go back to godhead. Sometime, good to hear that not only fallen men get back to even fallen ladies get back to Godhead. Everbody had a whole. What to speak of somebody who is really chanting and trying to be Krsna conscious like Kardama Muni, he got such a blessing that Lord became his own son.

If we actually try to be Krsna conscious, we can make our environment, the whole day we are hearing remembering, thinking, smelling, tasting, feeling Krsna consciously. Feeling the flower, we can touch the lotus feet of the devotees or you can, feel the beads today we are doing japa. As we do everyday, we feel the beads, so by feeling the beads we engage the sense of touch. Use all our senses in Krsnas service. Feel the mrdanga. You know most, aristocratic Indian families the ladies, anyway Jai RADHA Gokulananda, Jai Lakshman, Hanuman. End the class here.

So, that’s why we engage in Bhakti Yoga to be fully absorbed in Krsna. So, one doesn’t need to worry about generating, one needs to be very careful, to avoid the the offenses, avoid mental speculation. Any questions?

Gurumaharaj laughs “what you have to do to become a Yamaduta?

Maybe it’s a post that policemen give him, pious policemen. Somehow, somebody has a desire like that they really, want to enforce the law, to absorb the sane people they punished, who break the law. Maybe, the people that say”turn over”. Maybe they get a job down there. To burn people, that’s what they are thinking about all the time. I don’t want to speculate, its really, hard to know what . Remember one time Prabhupad, I was with him in Montreal, and he picked up a coackroach. He opened a window and he told the coackroach . Now, I am giving you the whole world to enjoy, now enjoy!. So, he was saying this think what a desire they have to get that birth. Every birth somebody had that desire, they get a body according to their desire.

So, if you see a little mosquito sucking your blood, the bed bug, and all these amazing creatures they have. So, there is some living entity they had a desire which, was most appropriately fulfilled by that body and all the other species other than the human species. Not able to be Krsna conscious. So, naturally we can bless them, maybe when the mosquito bites a devotee, devotee is taking a rasgulla mahaprasadam. Then somehow the glucose from the rasgulla, I don’t know if they get the blessing of Prasad or not?But, we know that the worms in the intestine, they can get cleansed by eating the remnants of prasadam.

Bhakti Vinod Thakur prayed that he rather be a worm in the stool, of a devotee than a Brahma who was a non devotee. But, better to not to go that route, and although we got human form of life we should, take advantage of it and become fully krsna conscious. Sometimes, people ask lot of different questions. It might be good to know when we make our Krsna conscious, karma video computer game . Different karmic cycles, so what activity produce what verse?Its mentioned in some other puranas, Manu samhitha, some other births you get, might be interesting to study some of the Brghu samhitha because, there it tells what your birth is at this life and what you did in the last life to get this birth?. It is mainly to do with humans because only humans, know what to bring you on end 37. 41. This your life first and then why ?they get this life . But, they had some desire they have to do that. They are people like that, they like to find faults, take people from management. Just like, they are people when they, find people like to be executionists . I had a roommate when I was in high school, college actually. I asked what his ambition was ?he said I want to be a care taker, a under taker, funeral pyre owner. He was very attracted to that. So different people somehow they have been in different directions.

Any other doubt?or question. So everything we do we should, take it as a preparation, for our future. A ashram is a preparation, to be strong devotees our whole life. In the congregation we are chanting try to build up the spiritual strength, austerities, to do devotional service. Everything we are doing is an opportunity to build up, our Krsna consciousness, so that we can be successful in this life . We should never totally stop. We should always try to increase, but keep. Be adjust a particular situation. We should never stop Krsna consciousness, where we can practise in strongest position. We can somehow or other remain chanting, remain in service, remain engaged our senses in Krsna’s service. There is no reason why we cannot be successful?to get back to Krsna.

Devotee asks q to Gurumaharaj not audible

Gurumaharaj answer to a question: He can, Krsna is free to appear before any devotee. Devotee desire is pure he wants to, his mercy is there, he can appear. He may come causeless mercy,

Well both things go hand in hand. Desire of a devotee, mercy of the Lord. So the devotee doesn’t desire to see Krsna, Krsna just appeared, on his way. The desiree of the devotee is what sets the stage. You know the simple story husband and wife, preparing the offering plate for the lord. Then they were busy and the Lord suddenly appeared. Made in the kitchen and they were so amazed, paying obeisences and rejoicing the Lord has come. They were so eager to

Serve the Lord. He said give me the offering directly. They peeled the banana and handed it to the Lord. They were so overwhelmed with ecstasy that that they handed the peel of banana and the Lord was eating the peel. I am enjoying your enthusiasm to serve . What is your enthusiasm in devotion and Lord is satisfied. So, that is explained, when Yashoda tried to tie Damodar. Everytime she would tie, always the rope would be 2 fingers short. So so many times 2 fingers short, so thereafter, she is discussing why is it 2 fingers short?

Because the Lord cannot be tied unless, there is the desire of the devotee and his causeless mercy . So, just the desire you have is not enough you must have, Lords mercy upon you. You cannot force, lord. But the desiree is strong then Lord gives his mercy. So finally Krsna allowed himself to be tied, just to the intense love of his devotee. Hare krsna.
