Jayapatākā Swami: So, Manu told Lord Brahmā that he will carry out his orders. So like that, Śrīla Prabhupāda wanted to carry out the orders of his spiritual master. He said that and it is also mentioned in the scriptures that the orders of the spiritual master is the most important thing. We saw that the Prime Minister of India, in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, inauguration of the new temple, he appreciated how Śrīla Prabhupāda at the age of 70 went preaching when most people retire. So, he said how Śrīla Prabhupāda went into every corner of the world, every corner, and this is not only a religion but a movement, a revolution, and the Prime Minister spoke for 45 minutes! He also said that he had association with His Holiness Gopāla Kṛṣṇa Goswami Mahārāja and had the privilege to inaugurate the biggest Bhagavad-gītā in the whole world. He said he promised His Holiness Gopāla Kṛṣṇa Goswami Mahārāja that he would inaugurate the Kharghar temple. During the lifetime of Śrīla Prabhupāda, some people recognized him, but some did not, but now at least he is being recognized. So, Śrīla Prabhupāda was praying to Kṛṣṇa that you have brought me to this ugra deśa. So, Manu prayed to Lord Brahmā, that by the mercy of the Lord you could take the earth out of the water by your endeavor. So like that, Śrīla Prabhupāda went by his endeavor, and the whole thing happened by the mercy of the Lord. Why did Śrīla Prabhupāda go at the age of 69 or 70? Maybe it was to inspire all of you that your endeavor is very important! And also the Lord’s mercy!

So Brahmā was thinking for a long time how he could lift up the earth. Śrīla Prabhupāda he was thinking for a long time, how he would carry out the order of his spiritual master. Even at the beginning he would say how ISKCON has worldwide branches. But Śrīla Prabhupāda could see into the future how this Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement would spread. And it was my good fortune that I could visit every branch in ISKCON at that time – all three of them! San Francisco, New York and Montreal. But now, I don’t think it is possible to visit all the temples in ISKCON!

We have temples in Bengal and Bangladesh which fall under the Gaura-maṇḍala Bhūmi, which we can visit. But I don’t think that many devotees have visited even the temples in Gaura-maṇḍala Bhūmi. Śrīla Prabhupāda, in the final week of his stay on this planet, he made a Bhaktivedanta Swami Charity Trust. And he said that all the holy places in Gaura-maṇḍala Bhūmi and Navadvīpa dhāma, you should develop these places. So the Māyāpur Tourism has started a Gaura-maṇḍala Bhūmi tour program. So, they go to the places nearby Māyāpur. Gaura-maṇḍala Bhūmi stretches from Remuṇā to a little beyond Kānāi-Nāṭaśālā. In the east, in Bangladesh, there is the birthplace of Puṇḍarīka Vidyānidhi and the birthplace of Advaita Ācārya beyond the north of Sylhet. On the notice board you can see the tour that is coming up on January 26th and His Holiness Bhakti Vigna-vināśana Narasiṁha Mahārāja will be accompanying the group.

So Manu, he was asking Brahmā, “Where will I stay and where my off springs stay if the earth is under water?” So, like that, Śrīla Prabhupāda in 1973 in London, on his Vyāsa-pūjā, he was lecturing to the devotees. He must have had many gṛhasthas there. So, he said all the gṛhasthas should be paramahaṁsas. So, paramahaṁsa means in your heart you are always keeping Kṛṣṇa, in your mind. And he said that it was advisable to have children who are ācāryas. So Lord Brahmā told Manu that you are a good disciple. You create santānas, children, like you who are good disciples! Śrīla Prabhupāda mentioned that his guru was an ācārya, he was the son of Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura, etc. So, Śrīla Prabhupāda wanted many ācāryas to flood the world with Lord Caitanya’s order. So this chapter is about the advent of Lord Varāhadeva. So, these were all the things that led up to the coming of Lord Varāhadeva. According to Jīva Gosvāmī, the topics delineated here are of different millenniums. The present topics are of the Śveta-Varāha millennium, and topics regarding the Cākṣuṣa millennium will also be discussed.

I don’t know which Varāhadeva it was but in Koladvīpa Lord Varāhadeva kept one of His lotus feet while He kicked the demon. Maybe Hiraṇyākṣa the asura hit Him with his club and the hind foot touched Navadvīpa dhāma, Koladvīpa. In the Devānanda Gauḍīya Maṭha, there is a Deity of Lord Varāhadeva. So being in the holy place like Navadvīpa, there are various connections with different avatāras.

So, we have to be very enthusiastic, humble and try to carry out the vāṇī of Lord Caitanya and the Pañca-tattva! By that we are helping Śrīla Prabhupāda! He is our Founder-Ācārya and we are all working under his ultimate guidance. Just like what he did was a miracle to establish 108 temples! Just like Lord Rāma, He engaged the monkey armies to fight Rāvaṇa. Like that Śrīla Prabhupāda engaged men and women from the Western countries who were very low. And now it has further spread, and everyone is making an effort. So, it is very important to try to help Śrīla Prabhupāda. His Holiness Bhakti Cāru Swami and His Holiness Subhaga Swami and all the ISKCON gurus, they all completely wholeheartedly tried and still trying to help Śrīla Prabhupāda. But now the devotees have to take over this responsibility. We have the information that the goal of His Holiness Bhakti Vijaya Bhāgavata Swami’s team of devotees is to distribute 5 lakh Bhagavad-gītās. But His Grace Braja-vilāsa Prabhu said we should do more, we should do 7 lakhs! If anyone would like to help them sponsor some books or Bhagavad-gītās, that would help them. They say that they are expecting 400 million devotees to go to the Kumbha-melā. And so 700,000 books is not so much! So this was just one example. Śrīla Prabhupāda wanted to have his Bhagavad-gītā, Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, Caitanya-caritāmṛta distributed to all the people! Lord Caitanya was so merciful, he wanted to see all the humans Kṛṣṇa conscious! So, we have the Pañca-tattva,

śrī-kṛṣṇa-caitanya
prabhu-nityānanda
śrī-advaita gadādhara
śrīvāsādi-gaura-bhakta-vṛnda

The Pañca-tattva, They came with the desire to deliver everybody. And, it says, śrīvāsādi-gaura-bhakta-vṛnda – all of you here, you are the Gaura-bhakta-vṛndas. Who were the Pañca-tattva?

śrī-kṛṣṇa-caitanya
prabhu-nityānanda
śrī-advaita gadādhara
śrīvāsādi-gaura-bhakta-vṛnda

English!

śrī-kṛṣṇa-caitanya
prabhu-nityānanda
śrī-advaita gadādhara
śrīvāsādi-gaura-bhakta-vṛnda

Bengali!

śrī-kṛṣṇa-caitanya
prabhu-nityānanda
śrī-advaita gadādhara
śrīvāsādi-gaura-bhakta-vṛnda

Sanskrit!

śrī-kṛṣṇa-caitanya
prabhu-nityānanda
śrī-advaita gadādhara
śrīvāsādi-gaura-bhakta-vṛnda

So normally it would not be possible to deliver all the human beings. But, Vāsudeva Datta, he asked Lord Caitanya, “Let me take all the sins of the conditioned souls and let them all become devotees.” And he really meant it, he would go to hell and suffer all the sins! But Lord Caitanya said, “If you have a bag full of mustard seeds, if one seed goes off, how does that matter? Why would Lord Kṛṣṇa want His pure devotees like you to suffer all the sins? Simply by your desire this entire universe is delivered!” But Śrīla Prabhupāda, he advised us that we should not think, “Oh, he will suffer for me, so let me go on sinning!” Śrīla Prabhupāda referred to Christians, who go and confess in the church that, “I have committed these sins,” and then they go out and commit the sins again! So, we should try to avoid breaking the regulative principles. And we should chant:

Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/
Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare

Any questions?

Question: When Vāsudeva Datta had prayed to Lord Caitanya and asked to take the sins of all the people similarly if some associate of Lord Caitanya also prays to Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu then in the same way then all us fallen souls can be easily delivered?!

Jayapatākā Swami: In the purport, Śrīla Prabhupāda was saying how Lord Jesus Christ, He delivered all His followers. But Vāsudeva Datta is millions of times greater, he did not say Your followers, he said all the jīvas, all the fallen conditioned souls! All kinds of living entities. Even the atheists! But that was what Śrīla Prabhupāda was criticizing – if we think, “Oh, he is suffering for me, let me go on sinning.” Don’t be a sinner on the strength of Vāsudeva Datta! So when we understand that the Pañca-tattva are desiring our deliverance, we should try from our side as much as we can! Like, Jagāi Mādhāi they tried, after they were converted! Haribol!
