Nama Om…

Mukham…

The Lord bathed in the lake called Chaurandhaka. He offered obeisances to the devatas and forefathers in accordance with the injunctions of the shaastras. Right after He did all these rituals, He climbed a mountain along with His dear friends and saw the devatas.

He went and saw the deity in the temple of Madhusudhan who was situated there. He wandered around the mountain in His own pastime. So Mandara hill is on one supreme corner of the Gaura Mandala bhumi. To give a reference point, it is near the Bhagalpur station in Bihar. On the Mandara hill there are two temples. In the bigger of the two temples is the deity of Madhusudhan which is under the care of the Jains. People were afraid of the dacoit kaala pahaad, so they moved the deity to the village Vamsi which is 3 km away from Mandara hill. Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur expressed his desire to establish a temple of Lord Caitanya’s lotus feet in Mandara hill. There are the lotus feet of Lord Caitanya in Kanhai Naatshaala. From Kanhai Naatshaala you can see the Mandara hill.

In this way the Lord was traversing the path and one day He manifested a fever. His body became filled with fever. Although He is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, He to teach the conditioned souls He manifests fever to teach the ordinary entities. Like accepting the fruit of the karma and becoming feverish. He doesn’t have any karma but if He wants to display a fever He can do so.

He asked, how is it I have gotten a fever on the way? I must have done some unfavorable act. Thinking in this way He talked to His companions, the brahmanas, being very merciful to the world.

Caitanya Mangal:

So the Lord said listen, listen, all you people! The worship of the devas and the forefathers is being impeded, why? Is it My mistake or is it the people with Me, their mistake? Auspicious work has obstacles. Obstacles in the auspicious deeds is great unhappiness.

To instruct the people of this world the Lord of Vaikuntha, He instructed the people by showing Himself getting a fever. The Lord is Satcitananda. Him getting a fever in the ordinary sense is not possible. If they consider the mundane body as spiritual that is prakrata sahajiya but the Lord manifested fever to teach others. He voluntarily accepted getting a fever.

So when the Lord manifested a fever in the midst of the path, His students were filled with anxieties.

They tried different medical remedies in the path, in spite of that His fever did not leave Him according to His own desire.

Murari Gupta Khorcha:

“Lord Gaura became disturbed by these profound thoughts. By travelling, by divine arrangement My body is out of control. If it continues in this way how can My duty to My father in Gaya be accomplished? This is an impediment for his ultimate welfare.”

“Thinking deeply in His mind Mahaprabhu at the time of fever stated that the cure for His fever was the foot water of the brahmanas. The ocean of mercy never rejects mercy.”

“After exhaustively pondering the matter the means to relieve the fever occurred to Him. He should take service from the feet of the brahmanas. Having begged and obtained that boon from the brahmanas Bhagavan Gaura drank the water that washed the feet”.

He particularly took water from a devotee who was always thinking of Krishna and by this pastime He wanted to show how the mercy of the devotees is so strong.

“All realized brahmanas accept Shri Madhusudhan as their exclusive shelter. Therefore, the incessantly contemplate His lotus feet. For this reason, Shri Krishna Himself drank the supremely potent water that washed their feet and thereby glorify His devotees.”

The Lord thought of a cure Himself. All kinds of suffering is relieved by drinking the water of the foot wash of the Lord. If the chandala is a devotee of the Lord, he is better than a brahmana. And if a brahmana doesn’t worship the Lord he is lower than a chandala.

To cure all kinds of suffering and obstacles, there is one way, you drink the water of a brahmana’s lotus feet.

Water that has washed the lotus feet of a brahmana, by taking that all kinds of sins are destroyed. My fever will thus be taken away.

There was a brahmana from that place, from that land. He got up and gave his feet to be washed.

The brahmana washed his own feet and the water from his charan, The Lord wanted to display the potency of the water from his charan and so the Lord drank this water in order to reveal the glories.

The water from the brahmana’s lotus feet, as soon as Lord Vishwambhar drank it, He manifested how dwija bhakti is so powerful that His fever immediately went far away.

“In this way the Lord’s fever was cured having thus demonstrated the power of devotion to the feet of the twice born, He departed for the sacred river Punah Puna. There He offered worship to the twice born and the devatas.”

So the Lord drank the foot wash of the twice born and He immediately became healthy, no more fever. He felt relief.

The Lord drinks the foot wash of the brahmanas, that is His nature. All the Vedas and puranas give this as the evidence. The Lord says in the Bhagavad Gita ye yatha maam prapadhyante, as you approach Me, I will reciprocate. So if someone is thinking of the Lord as his shelter, if he is in the daasya bhaava, then Krishna or His avatar They manifest that mood. They also accept to serve that devotee. So whoever serves the Lord, the Lord also serves them.

“Mahaprabhu’s fever then immediately disappeared by taking the foot water of the brahmanas. The humble people in the three worlds can understand the humble actions of the Lord. “

The Lord’s associate sat at the place and said, you saved me from the great suffering that would have come in this world. Certainly there is some internal offense and You accepted that suffering Yourself. Otherwise I would have been forced to suffer by the offenses I committed at Your lotus feet.

His associate continued to say I was acting and thinking in a wrong way. By this knowing or unknowing offense, I would have been forced to suffer. But You have taken this suffering from me.

You have manifested the devotion to the brahmanas. I have committed offenses and You please forgive them.

You are the authority of devotion to the twice born. You are the Supreme Lord. Brighu muni has left his footmark on Your chest. You have taken his lotus feet Yourself.

The glories of Your own devotion, You have broadcast from Your own mouth. You deliver the world in this way.

All glories to dear Vishwambhar, all glories to the king of the twice born. By remembering You all works are successful. Let us end here.

Any questions?

Question: Can the guru’s plate and the deities’ plates be washed in the same sink?

Guru maharaj: It is not an issue to wash them in the same sink but the guru should not use the deities’ articles. In the worship of the deity, when we wash the vessels of the deity by the riverside in ancient times, they go to the river. You don’t go to another river for the guru!

Those who want Jagannath’s stick blessing can come forward.
