The following is the lecture given by HH Jayapataka Swami Maharaj with Spanish translation given at __________ Mexico

 

Then behind the chamaras, there was coming Subhadra Devi. Subhadra Devi was being carried on a palanquin. She came down very quickly. ______ Then, Jagannath , He was coming down as Balaram but with a long , He could see the ___ corn flying up in the air. Miles and kilometres and kilometres long. In this way, and also theat they finally visible to the people at the simhadwar of the Jagannath Temple.

 

100 of thousands of people shouted out Jai Jagannath Jai Jagannath Jai Jagannath

In the same way, hundreds of thousands of people, they shouted._____ Horses ame up, people wearing uniforms came up, King of Puri, Gajapati , then there came another, taking up a huge elephant , ___ There the elephant was the king of Puri. Now it is democratic president, but then King he is the secular head of the Jagannath Puri temple.

 

So, then he got out , he bowed down to Jagannath. Jagannath and Balram , he was given a broom with a golden handle to sweep all around the Diety. Sprinkled scented water on the ground. They did all kinds s of puja and different cermonies. Different devotees would come out and touch the lotus feet of Jagannath, Subadra, Balram.

 

The ropes were 50 metres long. Each car 16 miles. Wide as _______ 9 metres. I thought there were the four horses and the person that whips the horses is always swearing at the horses. Push on….

 

Then they start the Ratha Yatra and the cart is moving. Sometimes, even today, the Jagannath cart is moving and then it will stop, then it will not move. Jagannath, If He wants to move, He will move, If he does not want, He will not move. One time, in  Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s pastime, the Ratha Yatra cart was moving, suddently it stopped, not able to move. They brought elephants, very strong men, not able to move. Then Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu came behind the cart, put His head on it and pushed it, just by slightly touching the ,  by just pushing it, it rushed forward in front,” gada gada gada gada gada gada gada”

It’s the will of the Lord. So we should not think that we are pulling the Lord rather we should think that the Lord is pushing me to pull.  By His mercy that I have the strength. By His mercy He is pulling it all. Otherwise, just like when Haridas Thakur was beaten in 24 market places, he fell down in the market place but was still unharmed and prayed that Oh Lord, please please have your mercy on them.. _____________ Just because he was chanting Hare Krsna mahamantra, he was beaten in 24 market places. If one is beaten in 21 market placers, he is sure t be dad. But still you are alive.. if You are alive, our king, the shah would cut off our heads.  Therefore we request you please die.

Haridas Thakur said so this is what you like, alright, he told them. Alright, then he died there…. Actually he absorbed himself in meditation on Krsna. Krsna was completely manifest in his heart and he was completely absorbed in meditating on his lotus feet so that all his bodily functions stopped, no breathing, ___ everything was ____ if there was something situated in his heart, it was samadhi

So then these people saw, they all rejoiced, he is dead, he is dead. Went back to the shah of Bengal , the kings of Iran had one time conquered India. If you say shah, there was in bengal. So, they reported to the Shah , Haridas Thakur is dead. We finished him off.

So, Sha said, What proof have you got?  You can go and see, he is lying down dead. So then Shah with his very envious head priest, he was the bishop of the muslim religion, Kazi, they all went together, they went to where Haridas Thakur was laid. No heart beat, No sign of life, Dead Dead, Shah said, what to do with him, my dear bishop? The Kazi said, the wicked bishop Kazi said to the Shah, this person for chanting Hare Krishna, giving up his own birth religion, he is a condemned soul.

His soul should never find any peace. It should always wander suffering, always disturbed. Therefore it should not be buried in the water, it cannot be burnt in the hot fire, let it be thrown into the ocean river for his body to rot _________

Thus he would always remain in no peace. ____ very envious.

The Kazi told that and then they tried , 2 people they tried to lift him, ___ big strong men, very strong, went to kick him out, couldn’t move him. They were trying with all their strength. Couldn’t move. Then get more men. 10 men trying, cannot move even a millimetre. Kazi admonishingly said, Krishna holds up the whole universe, He weighs more than the universe, How could he do it?

They have got 100 people doing it…So just like this, the Lord is so heavy. How can ordinary person move the Lord when He doesn’t want to move. If He manifests His true weight, its more than the universe. How can you move the universe? ___ The Lord ___ Haridas Thakur__________ he allowed himself to become light. Then they easily lifted him and threw him into the river, now you die.

When he hit the water, he came out of the samadhi, went to the other side,  jumped onto the side, started to chant, Haribol Haribol, Gauranga, Nityananda, Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare

Like this he was dancing away on the road. Shah saw and said, what happened? Oh My God! Oh My God! What is it? What an offence I committed? ______________ Where is Haridas Thakur, I want to see.. Oh My Lord, forgive my offense, I didn’t understand you, You are so powerful, please forgive my offense.

 

Haridas Thakur said only if you promise not to persecute anyone else who is chanting the holy name of Krsna. There is only one supreme Lord, it is a great offense to His lotus feet to prosecute those who chant His names, it is complete illusion that you think that all are different from Krsna. There is only one supreme Lord for everyone. He has millions of unlimited number of names. Those who think that only one name is God and neglecting other, they are actually athiests and they are absolutely very neophyte in their understanding and they are offensive to the Lord.

 

Don’t persecute any more anyone who is chanting the name of the Lord. Then I will forgive you. Wherever you see the chanting of the Holy name, you will not prosecute anyone. Yes, Yes, You can go on chanting Hare Krishna and you will find no obstruction. Haridas Thakur was chanting Hare Krsna. Also, the Lord in the sankirtan party at Srivas’s house, He would manifest different types of ecstasies. Sometimes He would also increase His weight to the weight of the universe.  _____ At every step, He was jumping in the air, dancing in the kirtan, 5-10 feet up jumping in the air. At every step when He was jumping in the air, dancing in Kirtan, up in the air, when He hit the ground, it would cause earthquake. Due to His huge weight, everything would shake. Sometimes He would fall in ecstasy and become as light as a ball of cotton. The devotees would pick Him up with one finger, not only that, they would carry Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu when he is dancing in kirtan in ecstasy. Sometimes He would become so heavy, nobody could move Him.

Sometimes He would become so hot, devotees couldn’t understand, ______ they would ___ they would immediately ____ sometimes He would become so cold, They would touch him and it would freeze, so much He would come in ecstasy when chanting the names of the Lord. And the devotee, they were ___ not__________________If the Lord wants to go, then He would allow us to take Him, If the Lord wants that He should not move, then there is no power on earth that could make Him move. Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in the mood of a devotee, _____He would respect the senior vaishnavas. The God Brothers of His spiritual master, He would offer them respect. Apart from that, He would offer all the devotees respect, even His disciples. This is described here in texts 29 and 30

As the car stood still, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu gathered all His devotees and, with His own hand, decorated them with flower garlands and sandalwood pulp.

TEXT 30

paramānanda purī, āra bhāratī brahmānanda

śrī-haste candana pāñā bāḍila ānanda

Paramānanda Purī and Brahmānanda Bhāratī were both personally given garlands and sandalwood pulp from the very hands of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. This increased their transcendental pleasure.

advaita-ācārya, āra prabhu-nityānanda

śrī-hasta-sparśe duṅhāra ha-ila ānanda

TRANSLATION

Similarly, when Advaita Ācārya and Nityānanda Prabhu felt the touch of the transcendental hand of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, They were both very pleased.

TEXT 32

 

kīrtanīyā-gaṇe dila mālya-candana

svarūpa, śrīvāsa,-yāhāṅ mukhya dui-jana

TRANSLATION

The Lord also gave garlands and sandalwood pulp to the performers of saṅkīrtana. The chief two performers were Svarūpa Dāmodara and Śrīvāsa Ṭhākura.

See the mercy of the Lord, personally garlanding and putting sandalwood on His devotees. How fortunate to be a devotee of the Lord!What the Lord doesn’t do for His devotees? What the Lord isn’t saying on behalf of His devotees? To be a devotee of the Lord is the most exalted position. There is nothing to compare. So even the Lord Himself has come down as a devotee to experience the ecstasy of being a devotee. Seeing the qualities of the Lord who would not be His devotee, who is that miser? Who is that fool who is not a devotee of Lord Krsna? Look what Lord Krishna does for His devotee.

Becoming a devotee,  one is able to completely get the mercy of the Lord. By being a devotee of the Lord, Krsna became a chariot driver for Arjuna. By being a devotee of the Lord, Mother Yasoda was able to tie Krsna with a rope. By being a devotee of the Lord, Krsna and Rukmini  bathed the lotus feet of sudama Vipra, His Brahmana friend.  Because Satyabhama induced Krishna to bring the Parijata flower from the heavenly planets. By being devotees, Krishna was carrying his devotee who was fighting with Sridhama and Subal and He was carrying them on His shoulders.

How fortunate to be a  devotee? Here because the devotees of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu  are personally garlanded and sandalwood is put on their foreheads by the  hand of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.  Where is anyone more merciful than Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu? Krishna’s most merciful form. Where is the Lord more merciful than Krsna? What an opportunity! Even today

 

Adyatamika akila gaura gaura rai

Kona kona Bhagyavan  deki bare pai

Today, ____ the pastimes of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is continuing,

Adyatama akila gaura gaura rai

Kona kona bhagyavana – where is that fortunate person

Kona kono bhagyavan – bhagyavan means very fortunate , deki bare pai – can also see these pastimes

Yes, you can see these pastimes even today. This is the mercy of the Lord. You become His fortunate devotee, you participate in the pastimes of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Chant Hare Krishna, Chant Gaur Nitai , Chant Jagannath, Subadra, Baladev, manifest His pastime of the Jagannath Ratha Yatra, distribute the mercy of the Lord, this sankirtan pastime is directly empowered by Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu! What great opportunity for us, the fallen souls of the Kali yuga, as we are having now, chant the Hare Krishna maha mantra and serve Lord Jagannath and Gauranga! Never we would get such an opportunity again in billions and billions of years, So take advanatege of this opportunity, this is the greatest opportunity, where you have full energy, your body, your mind, your words,  everything in the service of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Jagannath, Subhadra and Balaram, take their causeless mercy and become qualified, feel the transcendental pleasure and enter the spiritual platform immediately!

In India, the seasons change by ____ So when it is time for ratha yatra, ___ they go in for ____ try to _____ ______________

 

You see Srila Prabhupada said that if preahing is effected, the demons will always get ____ Byt the Lords mercy, nothing can stop the sankirtan, it is upto the devotees to show their devotion by passing these tesets by being very attached, actually trying to , will get opportunity to surrender at a higher level, Chanakyap andit said that one way of testing ____  the way to test if you have tastge for life, is when you have difficulties. _____ So, when tehre is difficulties, there is a test if one is a fair devotee or a true devotee. Draupadi was banished to the forest for 14 years along with her husbands and so much suffering. But she received ____ to her. 5 nice husbands. But then, _____

 

Ashwatthama, the son of a brahmana, ruthlessly cut their heads, ___ , she was crying, she was so upset, not for a moment did she doubt Krishna. __ Not for a moment did the faith of devotion stop. Her love for Krsna was strong. Devotees possess all good qualities. So much so, when Ashwattama was brought before her as tied down, she told ____ I am a mother and I had to suffer because my sons were dead, why should his mother suffer? Something who thinks is a vaisnava, knowing the qualities of these great devotees such as Draupadi and the Pandavas. ______ 

We should never think that we are vaisnavas, we are just the servant of the servant of the servant of the servant of the servant of the servant of the servant of the servant of the vaisnavas, trying to be the servant of the vaishnavas. By their mercy, we are able to do some humble service. What opportunity Krishna gives us, based on the mercy of great devotees, _______

 

If we make our devotion strong, now matter what happens you wil never give up devotional service, never can we stop chanting Hare Krsna. Just like Prahlad Maharaj was put in hot oil, the hot steams were burning his skin, his father held him in oil, I will throw you down the mountain, you will be finished, you now renounce Krsna, never chant Hare Krsna again, this is your only salvation, I am going to throw you in burning oil, finish you off now, forget Krsna, give up Krishna, give up devotional service, stop chanting, what do you say?

Doint mind any obstacle, Any test or obstacle is the test to show real devotion. You behave with me anyhow, I am going to be Krsna conscious. Those who are sincere souls will be brought to you by Krishna. Krishna says He will protect sincere devotees. He is only giving may be less mercy or mercy to more particular people. Those who get the mercy will advance more. You will see everything happens as per the  Lord’s plan. No one can stop the mercy of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu just like the ganges flowing down. It finds its own course.

Krishna is the original source, we are simply instruments. _________ We should surrender as good instruments to Him, we are not machines, we are personal instruments, we have to give our mind, word and deed for our service. The question is greater intensity of devotion is born in the threshold.

Just like which is stronger, iron or steel? Just like iron is burnt and then put in water to make it harder and harder______. The devotee that goes through so many obstacles becomes stronger. Which army is stronger, ________

 

__ army would simply consider___

 

No obstacle means no advancement, obstacles means devotees qualify themselves more and more. We should not make any obstacles ourselves, but when obstacles come ________which is beyond our control, we should try to take that as the mercy of Krishna and we have to try to use our intelligence, words and deeds to somehow or other cross over the obstacle to reach Krishna!
